What kind of services do you offer? The Klein Center for Holistic Medicine offers an integrative approach to health care by combining both conventional and alternative therapies in such a way as to provide each person with a unique, custom-designed program to address their particular situation. To accomplish this I draw on any or all of the following:
- Conventional medical diagnostic and treatment modalities, as appropriate
- Personalized diet, nutritional supplement, and lifestyle advice based on the latest research in nutritional and functional medicine.
- Dr. Jacob Teitelbaums clinically proven protocol for successful treatment of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia
- German biologic homoeopathic and immune modulating remedies.
- Selected herbal therapies.
- Advanced, functional analyses using blood, urine, saliva, hair and stool.
- Lymphocyte Reactivity blood testing for hidden allergies.
- Bio-identical (natural) hormone therapy.
- Compounded pain formulations
- Custom formulated trans-dermal creams for hormone balancing.
- Heavy metal diagnosis and treatment using oral chelation compounds (I do not provide IV chelation therapy).
- Therapeutic advice based on Ayurveda the ancient school of health from India.
- Personal guidance regarding the interrelationship of physical and emotional health based on over 20 years of clinical practice and a working knowledge of Energy Medicine.

Can you act as my primary care physician? Not really. Delivering high quality, personalized holistic care requires longer appointments during which you have my undivided attention. We strive to give you the best service possible. This becomes very difficult to do if we must also handle such matters as urgent and emergent medical problems, specialist referrals, lab/X-ray/pharmacy coordination and the extra administrative time needed to deal with insurance companies. The more typical doctors office is much better equipped to handle these types of issues.
That being said, you may chose to use me as your primary care physician as long as you are comfortable with the following conditions:
- We do not double book or work in patients. This would either detract from someone elses time or the personal time that I need to be able to be fully present with each patient. If you have an urgent problem and my schedule is full, we will direct you to the nearest urgent care facility or emergency room, as appropriate.
- We do not act as a Primary Care Provider (PCP) for any managed care plan, such as an HMO.
- We do not handle acute injuries, perform minor surgery or dermatologic procedures, administer immunizations, nor provide routine or acute gynecologic care. For routine Gynecology, I can recommend a number of pratitioners in the area.
- For patients that have multiple medical conditions that require numerous medications, or are sufficiently complex that they need frequent medical attention, I may, at my discretion, request that you be established with a regular physician for day-to-day care. You and I will then focus on the underlying causes of these conditions with the intention of reducing or, if possible, eliminating your need for medication.

Do you accept insurance? I currently have contracts with the following insurance companies:
- United Health Care
- Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield (PPO only)
- CIGNA (PPO only)
- Humana (PPO only)
|
Nevertheless, it is your responsibility to make sure that I am a covered provider on your particular insurance plan!
If you have out-of-network coverage with another plan, we will be happy to give you a statement to file with your insurance company.

Do you accept Medicare? I have elected to opt out of Medicare until January 1, 2007. According to Federal law, this means that all Medicare or Medicare-eligible patients need to sign a Private Contracting Agreement (hyperlink) and agree to each of its provisions prior to being seen.
Please be aware that an opt out physician is prohibited by Federal statute from submitting ANY claims to Medicare. This means that, even if you have secondary coverage from a company that I contract with (see above), and they have told you that: 1) we can still submit the bill to Medicare and, 2) they will cover charges once they have a received a denial from Medicare; it is a violation of the law for you or me to submit any charges from this office to Medicare. We are only allowed to treat you as a cash pay patient without any third party involvement, except in cases of emergency. Most insurance companies do not understand what it means for a physician to opt out of Medicare and, thus, give inaccurate advice. This does not apply to any tests or services that I order that are performed at a Medicare approved facility such as a hospital, laboratory, radiology center, or physical therapy office.
At the present time three companies: United Health, CIGNA, and Great West will allow us to bill them directly as a secondary as long as we provide them a copy of my opt-out letter with the claim.
I do not accept Medicaid.

What is the fee for an office visit? I am required to bill consistently for all visits, whether you are using insurance or not. This means we must we use the nationally accepted guidelines for medical billing, called CPT codes, as the determining factors in what fee is actually charged. As a result, there is no single set fee for visits. Initial evaluations, which are 60-90 minutes long, are typically $250-$300. Follow-up visits, which are usually 30 minutes long, are $94-$112. I give a 10% discount off of these amounts for cash payment-in-full at the time of visit. We accept cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover
